It may be a little crazy!

Just One! Thats all it takes to be apart of something bigger! Obviously you have learned from reading this blog that we care about the orphans in the world and our prayer is that other people will do the same. But sometimes in life it is so difficult to think that you could help or make a difference. But really you can. Do you drink a soda, tea, or coffee that cost $1? Then you could help. My husband and I started thinking and realizing that first of all people want to help but times are tough and it is difficult to help out others sometimes ecspecially in the economy we live in. Then we also thought that people know people and sometimes a ton of people. Just think about how many people you have on your facebook or that you work with. So we are trying something that is a little crazy but just might work. We are asking our friends to sacrifice one drink and send us that one dollar and then to ask their friends. The hardest part will be mailing the dollar or taking the time to do the paypal. Now you may be asking yourself why should I help. Really and honestly there is no reason for you to help, we decided to adopt not you. All we can do is provide you with some facts about the orphan crisis around us.
  • Approximately 147 Million Orphans in the world currently.
  • 29 Children are orphaned every minute meaning 1 every 2 seconds.
  • Orphans are born everyday.
We desire to bring one of these precious children into our home and if you want to be apart of something bigger than you can help with this one act of kindness! It is our hope that people will understand that if more people help then rasing all this money will be a little task for everyone. Who knows it may turn into something bigger!
Let me remind you of the verse from our last post James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. If you believe than this is something that you should want to do. All the children who are orphaned in this world deserve to have a loving home, none of them asked to be with out a family when they were born.

2. Scarfice that one soda, tea, or coffee.
3. Have motivation to send that $1 to or use paypal to donate now.

Our Journey Begins

So as some of you know and others of you don't know, Josh and I are starting the adoption process. We decided to start this blog so that our friends and family could keep up with us throughout the journey. Our prayer as we go through this journey is that first and foremost we see God working more and more each day and that the people in our lives see God. Gold for Good Campaign | Hornbaker Adoption

As many of you know by now, we have begun the process for the Adoption of Baby Hornbaker. We’ve appreciated the prayer and support you’ve given us as we have started this journey. You can read more about our journey, the fears and future here at our blog. You might also know that the process is rather lengthy AND expensive (around $25,000). And let’s face it, we didn’t get into full time ministry to get rich! We’d like to ask if you would consider joining us in a campaign to help us reach our goal so that the Adoption of Baby Hornbaker can become a reality.  Here is where you come in:  We’ve partnered with Exodus 35 campaigns (ex35.org) to do a “Gold for Good” campaign. This type of campaign would simply ask if you’d be willing to donate your used, broken or unwanted Gold on our behalf for our Adoption. Reached another Goal!

We are excited to announce that through donations, t-shirt sells, and ripping out kitchen cabinets we were able to meet our second financial goal. With this blessing we are able to have enough money for the birthmother expense. Even when things were looking a little rough a couple of days ago, God can take a situation and give you hope and affirm that what you are doing is truly what He has planned for you!  Now we are working towards our third financial goal, which is the matching expense. For those of you who are wondering what a "matching" expense would be, it is when we will be matched with a birthmother then we need to pay that expense, it covers various fees related to finding birthmothers. Being matched is when both parties agree to move forward with the adoption process together. Please continue to pray for the process and for our financial needs to be met.
