Keep praying for us

Adoption puts us in an interesting position.  It is one where everything that happens directly affects our adoption process.  We recently found that out with our houses.  We are trying to close our old one and close our new one, which has been an ongoing, fun-filled endeavor.  When we found out some bad news the other day about our old house, we realized how it would affect our adoption.  Our old house closing day has been pushed back (again) and it caused our new house to close later, which then made us change our move-in day and our next home study because it is supposed to happen at the house.   It's only a week or so, but imagine if you're pregnant and the doctor says, "Well, it looks like you're not going to have the baby on the day we thought.  It's actually a week later."  That would be frustrating.  It is frustrating.  You wait for this long and everything is supposed to happen like you want it to , but that's not the case. ...

re: The Chalos Adoption Journey

We were out driving around a few weeks ago and we saw a sign for an adoption yard sale and, given our situation, we wanted to stop and see what it was about.  What we didn't know is what God had in store for us there.  We met a wonderful couple who were/are in the process of adoption and we talked and began our friendship.  This couple, Chad and Kristle, have become good friends and a great encouragement to us over the last few weeks.  They have a great story and a strong burden for adoption from the Congo.  I want to take the opportunity to share with you how God works through this process.  He has led us to a couple in the same situation as us who are fellow travelers in the journey of adoption.  We are both with the same agency, in the same city, and facing (or have faced) the same difficulties.  Amazing! They have an upcoming craft fair to help bring their baby home.  If you want to know more about the Chalos family and their story or ...

One Down!

On Friday we had our first home study visit! I was nervous to go and answer questions, but Josh on the other hand was encouraging and excited about the visit. When we got there though and started answering questions, it was no biggie. We really had a great time answering the first set of questions and learning more about the agency and our caseworker. We have a lot of paperwork to complete for the next home visit, but I think it will be fun because it is all things a couple should discuss before they have children. Also we get to prepare our birth mother letter, which is neat because we get share our heart and desire with potential birth mothers. Starting the home study has been great for so many reasons, but one that has really struck me is that during infertility struggle there were many weeks and months that nothing happened. But starting adoption process and the home study visits Something is Happening . Even though we may have a long wait through the adoption process at least in t...
