Fundraiser Questions

Thank you to those who have shown interest in our gold for good campaign. We are received some questions about the fundraiser so I wanted to take this opportunity to answer those questions.

What type of items can be donated?
Any broken or unwanted gold or sterling silver (like necklaces, rings, class rings, bracelets, watches, pins, spoons, candle holders, anything else)

Can you take gold plated items? Yes, if you think it may have gold in it and you would like to donate the item then we will see if it can be used.

Who is helping us with this fundraiser?
Our fundraiser is being put on by Charles Shyblosky from Valley Goldmine, we meet him because he is a parent of one of the students I work with everyday. He has a huge heart and desire to help people through fundraiser and seeing them come closer to God in the process.

Are we getting a good portion of the proceeds?
Yes most definitely,95% goes directly to our adoption.

Our Journey Begins

So as some of you know and others of you don't know, Josh and I are starting the adoption process. We decided to start this blog so that our friends and family could keep up with us throughout the journey. Our prayer as we go through this journey is that first and foremost we see God working more and more each day and that the people in our lives see God. To catch everyone up, this decision did not come instantly nor did it come without some struggle and pain. We have been trying to have a family for five years now. We thought that we would have a family as soon as Josh graduated from seminary and then after we had a few biological children we would adopt a child. But little did we know those were our plans not God's plan. Through the past five years we have struggled, prayed, cried, tried some fertility treatments, and in the end no baby Hornbaker. It may be a little crazy!

Just One! Thats all it takes to be apart of something bigger! Obviously you have learned from reading this blog that we care about the orphans in the world and our prayer is that other people will do the same. But sometimes in life it is so difficult to think that you could help or make a difference. But really you can. Do you drink a soda, tea, or coffee that cost $1? Then you could help. My husband and I started thinking and realizing that first of all people want to help but times are tough and it is difficult to help out others sometimes ecspecially in the economy we live in. Then we also thought that people know people and sometimes a ton of people. Just think about how many people you have on your facebook or that you work with. So we are trying something that is a little crazy but just might work. We are asking our friends to sacrifice one drink and send us that one dollar and then to ask their friends.
