On the journey of adoption you know that there will be ups and downs, but you never know when they will pop up. About a week ago, I was thinking about and wondering how we would be able to raise all the money. So in the moment I prayed and told God about the discouragement I was feeling. In that moment I knew that it would be alright and we just need to continue to be faithful to the path that God has called us to. Then that afternoon, no joke I came home and checked the mail and there was a donation check randomly sent to us for our adoption. It was awesome to see God instantly work right after I had decided not to give into discouragement and know this is the path even though not sure of all the twists and turns. I hope whoever reads this will be encouraged in whatever journey they find themselves and know that when you are faithful to the plan God has for you then you will be encouraged!
So as some of you know and others of you don't know, Josh and I are starting the adoption process. We decided to start this blog so that our friends and family could keep up with us throughout the journey. Our prayer as we go through this journey is that first and foremost we see God working more and more each day and that the people in our lives see God. To catch everyone up, this decision did not come instantly nor did it come without some struggle and pain. We have been trying to have a family for five years now. We thought that we would have a family as soon as Josh graduated from seminary and then after we had a few biological children we would adopt a child. But little did we know those were our plans not God's plan. Through the past five years we have struggled, prayed, cried, tried some fertility treatments, and in the end no baby Hornbaker. Over the past year, through much prayer the Lord has guided us toward adoption. That in of itself was quite a process. One minute...
I can only say based on experience - that God is just so big. It is so easy to give into the worry - the panic that you won't be able to do what you need to- but isn't it neat how he sends little or GREAT BIG miracles just in time? Love you guys and have TOTAL confidence that this WILL happen! Hope we get to see you soon!
